REVIEW - BIG WIN IN THE FIELD OF ENRICHMENT OF LABOR LEGISLATION WITH INTERNATIONAL LABOR STANDARDS
9/06/2013
We would like to inform you with a great pleasure that another major activity of the Federation of Trade Unions of Macedonia has been completed which basically will contribute to the strengthening of international labor standards in our legislation.
Three fundamental conventions have been ratified: Labor Administration Convention, 1978 (No. 150), Collective Bargaining Convention, 1981 (No. 154) and the Convention on Labor Relations in Public Service, 1978 (No. 151) which is verification of the commitments and activities of CCM which were main focal point of work in the past.
The ratification of the Convention on Labor Administration, 1978 (no. 150) determines that any country that has ratified this Convention in accordance with national conditions and within the system of labor administration, ensures consultation, cooperation and negotiations between public authorities and representative organizations of employers and workers.
The ratification of the Collective Bargaining Convention, 1981 (no. 154) determines that the provisions of this Convention have been applied through laws and regulations and also take measures to promote collective bargaining in accordance with national conditions. The collective bargaining extends to all negotiations which take place between the employer, a group of employers or one or more employers' organizations on the one hand and one or more organizations of employees on the other hand.
The ratification of the Convention on Labor Relations in Public Service, 1978 (No. 151) provides that the Convention applies to all persons employed by public authorities, unless other favorable provisions of other international Conventions have been applied.
In October 2012 the Federation of Trade Unions of Macedonia along with other social partners had begun this action by filing an initiative to ratify the following Conventions:
- Collective Bargaining Convention, No. 154 in 1981;
- Convention on Labor Relations (Public Service) No. 151, of 1978 and
- Recommendation on Labor Relations (Public Service) No. 159, and
- Convention on Labor Administration, No. 150 of 1978.
