MINISTER SPIRO RISTOVSKI ANNOUNCES AMNDMENTS IN THE LABOR LAW IN FAVOR OF EMPLOYEES
1/30/2013
Changes in labor law are intended to protect workers' rights and prevent abuses in contractual cancellations, as well as to reduce the number of unregistered workers, said Minister of Labour and Social Policy Spiro Ristovski at the training "Current processes in the EU integration - challenges and opportunities for trade unions", organized by the European Trade Union Confederation and the Federation of Trade Unions of Macedonia held on 29 and 30 January in Skopje.
With recent amendments of the labor law, being in a process of public hearing, in consultation with trade unions and employers it is projected eradication of blank signed statement of cancellation. It is provided only the substantial part of the text to be unified and developed, which will reduce the likelihood that someone will try to forge one's signature.
Another significant change is the proposal to introduce mandatory sentences for unregistered workers. The employer will have to pay 1.000 euros for each of two unregistered persons and is obliged to register them within eight days and to pay the fines. If it doesn’t happen, the working premises will be closed. If three or more unregistered workers are find, there won’t be payment of fines, but the object will be immediately closed.
The Minister spoke about engagement to reduce unemployment. He said that in the past few years we have continuous decline in unemployment, although the opposition has repeatedly tried to portray it as our artificial deletion of unemployed.
