WORLD DAY OF DECENT WORK
10/4/2012

The Federation of Trade Unions, the Confederation of Free Trade Unions and the Union of Independent and Autonomous Trade Unions on October 5 will hold joint conference on the occasion of the World Day of Decent Work.
This year, the World Day of Decent Work is being held for the fifth time. In 2007, according to the agenda of the ILO adopted in 1999, Global Progressive Forum, Social Alert, Solidar and ETUC established an Aliance for decent work, for bringing back the dignity of labor. The response of trade unions and workers from all around the world was unexpectedly large, so that ITUC in 2008 proclaimed October 7th as International Day of Decent Work. Unions of 100 countries in the world organize activities and join in the celebration of the day.
Each year the motto of the day is different, as well as ways of celebrating - demonstrations, peaceful assemblies, protests, conferences, picnics, parades, letters to governments and other events. In 2012 it’s “Youth employment” and "For brighter working days."
According to the ITUC decent work is consisted of 4 components: employment, working and social rights, protection and social dialogue.
