12.02.2012

SOB President Risto Ajtov noted that the Trade union insisted for a while on such or similar solution. We are pleased that in just six months of the mandate of the Minister we found a way to solve one of the key problems of professional soldiers.
Minister of Defence Fatmir Besimi said it is a package prepared according to NATO principles. Changes have been made following the example of several NATO member countries. We have a variety of ways professional soldiers to continue their career by retraining and resettlement, explained Besimi.
The Agreement is in favour of SOB and the Ministry, explained NATO representative in Macedonia, Jordan Jordanov. The new proposed amendments will be considered together with the advisory team and NATO experts, and their goal is to improve the living standards of the soldiers.
Under the agreement the age limit for recruitment also changed from 23 to 25 years.
