THE TRADE UNION OF TRANSPORT DEMANDS PROTECTION AGAINST PHYSICAL ATTACKS OF THE DRIVERS IN JSP "SKOPJE"
For the last five years 1021 incidents have occurred in the vehicles of JSP "Skopje". The total damage to buses, injuries, medications, sick leaves and the payment of damages and other costs, is around 55,000 euros. The Trade union’s priority is of course the people, the drivers and passengers, and therefore requires their protection from physical attacks.
This was announced on today's press conference by the President of the union of workers in transport and communications of the Republic of Macedonia (SRSVM) Miko Stojanovski.
During press certain statistics of JSP "Skopje" and the union was presented: from 2007 to 2011 there were 105 attacks on drivers, 49 fights in vehicles, 637 damages to vehicles and 230 drivers threats (total 1021).
SRSVM proposes several measures to improve this situation such as severe penalties for violators and parents if the persons are juveniles, more effective internal control line, establishment of public security and services for monitoring of buses, regular education of students and establishment of a public police unit in the service of the public enterprises.
