The initiative of the Federation of Trade Unions of Macedonia on the occasion of the Campaign for the First of May in 2013, which referred to the need for establishing a Local-economic and social councils (LESC) is more and more established in the Republic Macedonia within the frameworks of the project for the Promotion of the Social Dialogue, funded by the European Union, implemented by the social partners and the International Labor Organization.

On that occasion today in Sveti Nikole the Treaty on the establishment of LESC Sveti Nikole was signed by the social partners and the Mayor of the Municipality of Sveti Nikole, Zoran.

Signatories to the Treaty are the Mayor of Resen, Zoran Tasev, the President of the Federation of Trade Unions of Macedonia, PhD Zhivko Mitrevski, the President of the Organization of Employers of Macedonia, Angel Dimitrov and the Acting President of the Confederation of Free Trade Unions of Macedonia, Blagoja Ralpovski.

The Treaty represents a basis for institutional development of the social dialogue between social partners and bringing their different views and interests on the local level, as well as between the public and private sectors, especially between the education system and the support in employment on the one hand and employers on the other hand; establishing and strengthening the links between the needs of the labor market defined by the businesses and development of skills of young people through the education system; involvement of young people in regional dialogue through their participation in LESC; exchange of views and information; initiating joint initiatives; participation in the creation of the legislation affecting the material and social position of employees, unemployed, redundant workers, pensioners, young people, women, etc.; development of collective bargaining and negotiation; monitoring the employment situation and proposing measures to promote employment and harmonization of the education process with labor market needs and etc.
