The social partners, members of the Economic and Social Council on 27.7.2015 at the request of the European Economic and Social Committee had a working meeting on which several issues related to social dialogue in the country, activities related to labor legislation, and social partners’ activities in terms of the socio- economic issues in the country were discussed.

The President of CCM, PhD Zhivko Mitrevski, presented the Federation of Trade Unions of Macedonia, its position, role and activities related to the improvement in the labor legislation, adoption of several key laws including the Minimum Wage Law, the Law on Mobbing, amendments to the OHS Law, encouraging the process of ratification of several conventions etc.

Also, the President of CCM highlighted several opportunities and needs which should be jointly implemented through the European Economic and Social Committee in order to improve the capacity of the social partners in the country.

The European Economic and Social Committee has developed regional and bilateral approach with civil society and trade unions in the Western Balkans and its global objectives refer to the contribution of consolidation of democracy and future EU accession, promotion of civil and social dialogue, while developing a culture of dialogue between the authorities, trade unions and other organizations, creation of a transparent and efficient institutional frameworks for civil and institutional dialogue, promotion of the establishment of appropriate legal environments and increase of the exchange of experiences and best practices.
