PRESS CONFERENCE OF THE MACEDONIAN POLICE TRADE UNION (MPS)

Today in the premises of the Federation of Trade Unions of Macedonia (CCM), the Macedonian Police Trade Union (MPS) held a press conference regarding the latest protests held in front of the Government of Republic of Macedonia on 5.5.2015, on which many members of the Ministry of Interior Affairs of RM and members the Macedonian Police Trade Union (MPS) were injured.

At the press conference, the Macedonian Police Trade Union (MPS) strongly condemned the violent actions of the protesters in front of the Government, on which more than 30 police officers were injured out of which 8 were hospitalized.

The President of MPS, Tihomir Klimoski noted that the injured policemen are their members; they are people, someone’s parents, brothers and sisters, who are now in deep trauma and grief, and they have not contributed with anything to be brutally attacked and on the other side, none of the protesters was injured.

President Klimoski appealed to the structures that organize these events to have serious consideration in the organization and implementation of the protests, especially when engaging people who are well known and registered in the police as violent and criminal structures.

At the end, the President Klimoski stated: "The threshold of tolerance that exists in any professional police action during these events has long been exceeded and professional standards must be applied by the police in a democratic society".

Also MPS expressed its deep condolence and support for their injured colleagues and their families.
